Ulysses S. Grant

Picture
Ulysses S. Grant was part of the Civil War because he was the general of the Union Army.  Grant was a great tactician, but was Lincoln's second choice as general of the Union Army.  He was appointed by Lincoln after Lee declined.  Some of Grant's greatest victories were at Fort Henry, Vicksburg, and Richmand, Virginia, the Confederate capital.  There, in 1865, Lee surrendered to Grant.  "I propose to fight it out on this line if it takes all summer."- quoted from Ulysses S. Grant.
